“Home”
2020-2021
Exploration of what home means to me.
At the end of 2020. I began a personal exploration journey with a most incredible mentor, photographer and friend Aletheia Casey, and spent 6 months vacillating between feelings of excitement, inadequacy, triumph, curiosity, despair, satisfaction, enlightenment….not necessarily in that order. The project started based around the theme of aging, and my distain of what it looks like on the outside, but also recognizing the absolute brilliance of it, and the blessing that it is to GET to grow old. As I moved through this journey, I discovered much more about myself, and what was deeply rooted in me, I refocused to the title of this project, Home. As I created, this is what evolved, and I embraced that home is something that means something different for everyone, and it is a huge part of who I am. Home to me is a place, physical and not physical, a place where I have always felt the utmost in protection, security, comfort and calm. Home is absolutely a place, but it also is a person or collection of people, a feeling, or a place in the middle of nowhere. Alethea helped me explore my connection to self, and environment, and this is the result of that exploration.
